The All Night Strut!
(June 12th – 27th 2009)

From coast to coast, in dance clubs, Broadway shows, and major motion pictures, folks young and old are rediscovering the Lindy Hop, the Shag and the Tango. Yes, Swing’s the Thing! And nowhere more than in this classy, sassy musical celebration of the 1930s and ‘40s. The All Night Strut! struts it stuff in a two act bonanza that carries us through the Depression, World War ll and the post war boom. From the funky jive of Harlem to the sophisticated elegance of El Morocco and the romance of the Stage Door Canteen, this is an evening filled with jazz, blues, bebop and classic song standards that thrill the heart, tickle the funny bone and raise the rafters, by such legendary songwriters as Hoagy Carmichael, Frank Loesser, Duke Ellington, Johnny Mercer, Cab Calloway and the Gershwins. An international hit, The All Night Strut! is a slick slice of yesteryear with sublime music and unbeatable energy that’s perfect for the new generation of Swing fans as well as die-hard devotees!

Adaptation

by Elaine May

(June 21st – 29th)

One of Broadways all time successes.  This is a contest played like Parcheesi, in which the contestant advances or is sent back through the seven ages of man.  The play creates a picture of man from birth until death, with all its madness, with all its familiarity, and with all its nonsense.  Incident after incident makes you laugh and suddenly makes you stop and think that maybe you’re laughing at yourself.  Directed by Alan Wilkie

SHOW STARTS AT 7:30 PM

Come join the musical adventure that’s different every time!
KEEP CHECKING FOR NEW DATES

Did you read about Aunt Dottie’s Sing-along Cabaret in the May issue of Renton Magazine?? Aunt Dottie and her Nephew Aaron have been entertaining the folks at Renton Civic Theatre for SEVEN months now. If you haven’t had a chance to participate in their unique brand of musical mayhem, don’t worry. They’ll be back! Just keep checking the RCT website, or Aunt Dottie’s blog http://auntdottiesings.blogspot.com for the most up-to-date information on show dates and times. In their all-ages show, the audience is encouraged to participate and sing along as Aunt Dottie and her nephew, Aaron, take you on a journey through some classic and not-so-classic songs.

After years of entertaining on the high seas, Aunt Dottie finds herself on dry land, due to her current husband, Leonard's, chronic sea-sickness. But she just can't to stop singing! And, she’s still paying alimony for all of those previous husbands, so she keeps bringing her act back to Renton Civic Theatre.

The audience is always encouraged to participate and sing along as Aunt Dottie and her nephew, Aaron, take you on a journey through some classic and not-so classic songs.

Expect the unexpected at Aunt Dottie’s (Happy Hour) Sing-Along Cabaret.
