Mayor Pavone to host public events to connect with residents

Residents can apply to host the mayor throughout the summer.

Mayor Armondo Pavone is looking to talk with residents throughout the neighborhoods of Renton.

A new program called Talks on the Block will allow residents to host and connect with Pavone and other city leadership at public events in a variety of settings amd share their vision for Renton’s future.

“We wanted to take advantage of summer weather and neighborhood gatherings to create a more casual venue for residents to spend time with the Mayor and city staff,” said Renton communications and engagement director Laura Pettitt. “It’s an opportunity to talk about experiences, touch base, and build new relationships on a personal level.”

Talks on the Block kicks off in early July and would be held on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. Evenings are available now through September 25. Residents are encouraged to invite neighbors and friends to their Talk on the Block.

“There have been a few inquiries from neighborhood groups, and we are starting to field more,” Pettitt said. “The date range is wide on availability, from July to the end of September and we’re looking forward to heading out to meet residents on their blocks.”

Applications to host a Talk on the Block can be found on the city’s website.
