2009-2010

 Season of Spirits and Laughter

Dear Theatre Patrons:

The 21st season at Renton Civic Theatre has almost come to a close, and it is time to start thinking about next season!  It is a wonderful thing to say that your Renton Civic Theatre has been around for 22 seasons and it is because of patrons like you that this happens.  So without further ado I am excited to announce the Renton Civic Theatre 2009-2010 season of Spirits and Laughter.

We will start the season with Forever Plaid (Sept 4th – 19th 2009).  This deliciously goofy revue centers on four young, eager male singers, killed in a car crash in the 1950s on the way to their first big concert, and now miraculously revived for the chance to fulfill their dreams and perform the show that never was.  In October we will be haunted by The Women in Black (Oct 16th – 31st 2009).   The framework of this spine tingler is unusual: a lawyer hires an actor to tutor him in recounting to family and friends a story that has long troubled him concerning events that transpired on a dark and stormy night.  For the Holidays we will be visited once again by the famous spirits of Christmas in The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge (Dec 4th – 19th 2009).  This is the Trial of the Century! A year after his miraculous transformation, Ebenezer Scrooge is back to his old ways and is suing Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas - or is he?  This hilarious romp is on its way to becoming a Christmas classic.  In the month of February we will start the New Year with Foot Light Frenzy (Feb 19th – March 16th).   In a desperate attempt to save their bankrupt "School for Unusual Children", an inexperienced PTA group valiantly mounts an ambitious benefit play, written by a has-been Broadway director.   The fun and laughter does not stop there:  in April we will bring one of the funniest Neil Simon plays ever written, Rumors (April 9th -24th ).   At a large, tastefully appointed Sneden's Landing townhouse, the Deputy Mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to experience a severe attack of farce. For our summer show we are going to try something new for RCT, Shake It Up Shakespeare: “The Two Gentlemen of Verona” (June 25th – July 11th).  Instead of your traditional Shakespeare, this will be a 70’s Disco musical, complete with bell bottoms and silk shirts! This will definitely shake up Shakespeare, not to mention the Disco era.

Season Tickets will go on sale very soon, if you would like further information please contact our boxoffice during our regular boxoffice hours.  I would like to thank you again for your patronage of Renton Civic Theatre.
