Hazen High School track star Kenyon Andrews now holds the Washington state record in the 300M hurdles in just the second meet of the season for the Highlanders.
The record was 37.11 set back in 2017 by Cass Elliot. Andrews ran a 36.24 in the meet, smashing the record by almost a full second.
In the entire country, Andrews’ time sits in second for the fastest time of any runner in the nation.
Andrews won the state title in the same race at the 3A level last season with a 37.75 time. He also broke the Hazen school record that he set last season.
Andrews isn’t the only Highlander to make waves.
Highlander alum Miguel Rosario, who is running track at Grand Canyon University, ran at a national race in the Philippines in hopes of getting dual citizenship, according to his former coach Buddy Ryan.
Rosario broke the Filipino national record in the 200M dash and placed second in the 100M dash.
