Drunk driver speeds off | Renton police blotter

Drunk driver speeds off: At 6:48 a.m. April 14 in the 500 block of Monster Road Southwest, officers responded to a reported driving under the influence call. Upon arrival, they learned that security had approached an occupied vehicle in the parking lot where a person appeared to be passed out. After security was able to wake up and speak with the driver, they could tell the driver was intoxicated and saw open liquor containers in the car. The driver sped off, and security called the police. Other officers located the vehicle, conducted a stop, and the driver was arrested for DUI.

Robbery with a firearm: At 9 p.m. April 14 in the 600 block of Rainier Avenue South, officers responded to an armed robbery. The victims reported that a male entered the business and pointed a gun at them and demanded all their cash. He then left in a dark sedan. No one was injured. The investigation is ongoing.

Domestic violence robbery: At 2:56 p.m. April 19 in the 17000 block of 108th Avenue Southeast, officers responded to a robbery. The victim told officers that following an argument, her boyfriend had assaulted her, and had stolen her vehicle, purse and cellphone. She also reported that about $1,200 was withdrawn from her bank account, and her credit card had been used several times. Officers developed probable cause for domestic violence robbery. The investigation is ongoing.

Rear window broken: On April 20, the victim stated that sometime between 7:30 p.m. April 19 and 4 p.m. April 20, in the 1500 block of Shattuck Avenue South, someone broke out the rear-view window of their vehicle. The victim stated that no one had entered the vehicle, and nothing was missing.

Shoplifter arrest: At 5:49 p.m. April 20 in the 300 block of Renton Center Way Southwest, officers responded to a shoplifting report. Loss prevention had detained the suspect, who was trying to flee, but stopped when she saw officers arrive. Since they recovered over $640 in unpaid merchandise, officers developed probable cause for third-degree theft. During the search, post-arrest, officers located suspected methamphetamine in her belongings. She was booked into jail on the theft charge and possession of a controlled substance.
